Music theory is a subject in which students learn the basics of music theory, music history and they develop intonation and rhythm. Here they put their practical musical experience with theoretical knowledge in context. Thanks to a good knowledge of music theory, students can continue to learn to play instruments faster, they learn new compositions quicker and with deeper understanding, and they master improvisational techniques more easily.
ISMFA teachers have created an innovative online music education system that allows students to save time on commuting to school. If your child plays an instrument or sings, learning music theory is one of the best ways to improve their skills and knowledge. Understanding the basics of music theory leads to a deeper understanding and appreciation of music.
Students are taught to understand how music works by studying the basic elements of music such as rhythm, harmony, pitch, scales, dissonance, consonance etc. All this knowledge helps them to write and perform music accurately, detect errors, listen to music more critically and, last but not least, be familiar with the masterworks, styles and genres of Western music.
Students who are interested in passing the ABRSM international exams will be prepared for them in these lessons as well.
These lessons are suitable for children from the age of 7. The students will be divided into groups according to their age and level.
