International School of Music and Fine Arts Prague (ISMFA) is an international performing art school, that offers courses in music, visual art and dance for children as well as adults. Our basic aim is to help children and students penetrate the beauty and mysteries of music, discover one’s own relationship to it and develop creativity. We have operated in the Czech Republic since 1998 and over 10 000 pupils have already passed through our school.
International International School of Music and Fine Arts Prague has established in 2018 a close partnership with the prestigious orchestra of the PKF – Philharmonia (www.pkf.cz). This partnership has been brought many new opportunities, cultural experiences and education for both our students and parents. For this school year we are not only offering ISMFA students the possibility to appear as soloists with this renowned Czech orchestra, which regularly gives concerts across the world, but we will also provide them with interesting events from the world of classical music as part of the PKF – Prague Philharmonia’s concert season in Prague’s Rudolfinum.
The PKF – Prague Philharmonia was founded in 1994 on the initiative of the conductor JiříBělohlávek (1946–2017) under the original name Prague Chamber Philharmonia. Mr. Robert Schönfeld, who is also the founder of our ISMFA school, took over the role of founder after Jiří Bělohlávek. The orchestra has been a frequent partner of renowned conductors and soloists, including Jefim Bronfman, András Schiff, Anna Netrebko, Diana Damrau, Angela Gheorghiu, Rolando Villazón, Plácido Domingo, Elina Garanča, Juan Diego Flórez, and others. The orchestra is regularly invited to international music festivals and gives concerts at top world venues (BBC Proms, MITO Settembre Musica, Prague Spring, Festspielhaus Baden Baden, Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, Gasteig Munich, Royal Opera House Muscat in Oman, Tokyo, Paris, San Francisco etc.). Over the period of its existence, the orchestra has recorded over 80 CDs released by leading Czech and world music publishers, such as Deutsche Grammophon, Decca, Supraphon, EMI, Warner Classics and Harmonia Mundi.
ISMFA students have the chance to buy discount tickets for various concerts during the PKF – Prague Philharmonia’s season at the Dvořák Hall in the Rudolfinum, free entry to selected dress rehearsals and other alternative programmes, including meeting the musicians. There are also benefits for Family Entry.
In the last two years, as part of this cooperation, our school has also been teaching its students directly in the premises of the PKF – Prague Philharmonia (STUDIO LÁDVÍ).
